Who we are...

The Kansas District Magistrate Judges Association (KDMJA) is comprised of District Magistrate Judges across the State of Kansas.  District Magistrate Judges serve an important function in the District Courts of Kansas hearing cases involving traffic violations; violations of the wildlife, parks and tourism laws; cigarette and tobacco infractions; first appearances, misdemeanor and felony arraignments; bond modification hearings; preliminary hearings; misdemeanor trials; uncontested divorces; actions under the code for care of children; actions under the revised Kansas juvenile justice code; care and treatment actions; orders of protection; small claims; limited actions; adoptions; wedding ceremonies; probate; and guardian and conservatorships.

The KDMJA advocates for its members by working with the Kansas Supreme Court, Kansas Court of Appeals, Office of Judicial Administration, the District Court judges, Court Administrators, Court Clerks, and Court Service to promote the interests of the Kansas Judicial Branch.   Within the KDMJA, judges from across the state can connect to share ideas, experiences and discuss issues specific to District Magistrate Judges in Kansas.
